This master class is an invitation to deepen the way we see and photograph the street. We begin with composition and the ideas that shape a personal vision, drawing inspiration from photobooks and the photographers who influence us. From there we move into the practical language of the craft: light and the position of the sun, foregrounds and backgrounds, locations and the quiet effect of place and culture. Technical foundations are treated with clarity: manual focus techniques (including zone focusing), metering light, shutter speeds, lens choices, and the decision between black and white and colour. We also discuss the essential street dilemma: when to wait at a corner and when to move.
The day includes a one-hour shooting session on the streets of Mannheim. Afterwards we return for a focused portfolio review, looking at both the new work from the day and the photographs participants bring with them. The atmosphere is open, attentive, and practical. Participants leave with sharper eyes, clearer tools, and a stronger sense of their own photographic voice.
REQUIREMENTS
Please bring your work with you, either digital or in print.
For digital work, bring a tablet or laptop.
For prints, small A4 prints are perfectly sufficient.
For the photowalk - please bring your camera and wear comfortable shoes.
